SFDGC Membership in Context
January 28, 2016 in Club Membership
Here’s a little bit about our club, how we use your membership dues, and membership benefits:
The San Francisco Disc Golf Club is a 100% volunteer organization that only exists because of club members like you! We honor the mission of the SFDGC (see SFDGC Constitution) through the collection and redistribution of membership dues.
All dues, donations, and profits from disc sales are used to maintain the course, fund club events ( Bag Tag Challenge, annual Birthday Bash, and the San Francisco Safari), and support regional tournaments and courses through donations.
We made a commitment to take care of the Disc Golf Course at Marx Meadow when the SF Rec & Park Department granted us use of this land. While it was an incredible amount of work to design and build the course, ongoing maintenance needs and continuous improvement are required to ensure the sustainability of the course. To that end, volunteers have in the past and continue to do amazing and much-needed work on the course. We encourage club members to become involved if they are able.
Club organized monthly work parties provide regular opportunities for members and non-members alike to give a few hours back to the course. These work parties are a great way to meet others in the community and a give volunteers a sense of satisfaction for having helped uphold our commitment to taking care of the Golden Gate Park Disc Golf Course. Also, lunch is on us!
In addition to supporting the club and it’s mission, there are several membership benefits:
- Countless Bag Tag rounds throughout the year
- $5 discount for 2023 PDGA membership. Ask for the code!
- Discount on purchases of club discs (varies depending on disc)
- Eligible for SFDGC team events (i.e. NorCal Team Championships)
- Membership raffles throughout the year
Finally, if you would like to become more involved with the club, please attend our club meetings. We discuss upcoming events and course maintenance projects. Members have a voice in issues regarding course maintenance. We need people to take on responsibilities, keep the club vital and active, and show leadership and willingness to cooperate. The SFDGC thrives on participation of its members!
We thank you very much for joining or re-joining the San Francisco Disc Golf Club!
